Three police officers on duty at the Barnett Street Police Station in Montego Bay when Mario Deane was reportedly beaten by cellmates are to be charged on Friday.
This was confirmed today by the Independent Commission of Investigations. The investigative body, however, declined to say what charges will be laid against the cops.
Three police officers, including a woman cop will be charged with manslaughter, misconduct in a public office. The woman officer will additionally be charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Deane, a 31-year-old construction worker, died in hospital on August 6 after being beaten, reportedly by cellmates.
Two men have been charged with murder as a result of the incident.
