Barbados has dominated the USA TODAY 10-Best Readers’ Choice contest for Best Caribbean Beach, bagging the top spot with its world famous Crane Beach in St. Philip, as well as taking eighth place with the surfers’ paradise of Bathsheba Beach in St. Joseph, making it the only island to secure two places in the coveted top 10.
In what was dubbed “a battle of the Bs,” Barbados’ Crane Beach and Bermuda’s Horseshoe Bay fought long and hard for the number one spot.
After four weeks of voting, Crane Beach, known for its powdery pink sand and spectacular unspoilt scenery, emerged as the winner.
The accolade is the latest in a formidable collection for Crane Beach, which already holds enviable rankings on many lists including The Top 10 Beaches In The World by Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous; Top 10 Caribbean Beaches by the Travel Channel; Top 10 Beaches Worldwide by Destinology; The Top 100 Places To See Before You Die by the BBC, and The World’s Best 100 Beaches by CNN.
Travel experts from 10best.com – one of the top visited destination and travel information websites in North America, shortlisted Crane Beach among other idyllic beaches in the region.
Aruba’s Baby Beach, placing third, has shallow, crystalline waters ideal for swimming, while fourth placed Seven Mile Beach on Grand Cayman is home to some of the island’s most glamorous resorts. Sandy Point on St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands snagged fifth place.
