The way is now clear for China Harbour Engineering Company, CHEC, to be the main contractor for the construction of the Kingston to St. Ann Leg of Highway 2000.
Managing Director of the National Road Operating and Constructing Company, NROCC, Ivan Anderson, yesterday revealed that a concession agreement is in place for the company to take charge of the project.
The Kingston to St. Ann leg will start near Ferry and merge with the Linstead to Mount Rosser segment. CHEC will finance the entire project.
The company will have a 50 yr concession for the highway after which it will be handed back to the government free of cost.
