Digicel Warns Against Scam Callers

Digicel is advising customers to be on the alert for scam callers, who are contacting customers under the pretence of being Digicel representatives.

The telecommunications company said this scam has been taking place regarding an alleged promotion on ‘recycled calling cards’.

It has been reported that scam artists have been calling Digicel customers informing them that if they return used cards to Digicel for recycling, that Digicel will compensate them for the used cards.

Aileen Corrigan, acting head of marketing at Digicel, said: “While we support recycling and preserving the environment, Digicel under no circumstances buys back used cards from customers and so we are in no way associated with this activity.

“Persons should always take precautions before participating in these activities or before complying with requests of this nature. We are therefore imploring the public to be extremely cautious about such calls,” she added.
