The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) says that fathers will be treated to free rides on its buses on Sunday, which will be observed as Father’s Day.
“Another aspect of the JUTC’s Father’s Day treat is that the company will be deploying mostly women drivers on the buses for most of the day with smartly outfitted customer service guides on board to give a special welcome to the fathers,” the bus company said in a release yesterday.
To cap the day, the JUTC said that it will also be operating a free shuttle service from the Half-Way-Tree Transport Centre for families wishing to visit the popular lyming venues of Devon House and Emancipation Park.
The free shuttle service will run from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
According to the release, “the company’s decision to engage in activities to [celebrate] fathers is in recognition of Father’s Day being as special as any event to celebrate our women and the need for families to be together in celebration of the father”.
The bus company recalled that, on International Women’s Day observed on March 8 this year, it staged a ‘Double Day’ promotion solely for women, specially recognising them on the day.
