The Meteorological (Met) Service has issued Flash Flood Watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St. Mary, Portland, St. Thomas, Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Catherine and Clarendon.
The watch remains in effect until 5:00 pm today, Saturday August 30.
A Tropical Wave, which has been influencing weather across Jamaica, is now west of the island, the Met Service said early Saturday morning. However, the associated weather still remains across Jamaica and is expected to persist for at least another 12 hours.
Sea conditions will deteriorate in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms due to gusty winds and fishers and other marine interests should exercise caution.
Citizens are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed by listening to further news releases from the Met Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a warning is issued.
