Government has put a hold in the implementation of a fare increase for the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC).
The decision follows a meeting this morning between Transport Minister Omar Davies and stakeholders in the transport sector.
The increases were to take effect on Sunday, August 24.
Senior citizens were to be hit hardest by the increases. They were expected to pay 200% or $60 up from $20.
Adults would pay $120 up from $100 while children would pay $30, up from $20.
