Marvin Orr, one of the two men charged with the murder of construction worker, Mario Deane, was today beaten allegedly by inmates at the Barnett Street Police Station in Montego Bay, St James.
Orr was treated at the Cornwall Regional Hospital, and later released to the police.
Orr, who according to his medical report is a schizophrenic, should be supervised in a therapeutic environment, said his doctors.
A short while ago, Superintendent Egbert Parkins, the commanding officer for St James, told The Gleaner/Power 106 News that Orr was injured during a scuffle with cellmates.
“We observed a swelling to the side of his face and a bruise on one of his legs,” Parkins said.
He said two pastors were later called in to provide counselling for Orr.
In the meantime, Parkins said Orr has since been transferred to the Freeport police station and arrangements are being made at this hour to remove him from the parish.
