Needy Mothers To Get $6k For a Year in Trinidad

When the 2014/2015 Trinidad & Tobago budget is read by Finance Minister Larry Howai today, included in it will be a baby fund to help mothers in need with newborns.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar on Friday announced that T&T$500 (jm$9000) per month will be given for a year to mothers in need.

She made the announcement at the Congress of the People’s eighth anniversary service at Plaza de Montrose, Chaguanas.

Speaking to reporters afterwards she said the fund should begin by October 1.

“We are looking at October 1 once the budget process goes through. We will have to create the criteria. It is not for every single family, it is for those most in need. Within the Ministry of the People we will create the criteria.” The Prime Minister Said.

The Prime Minister is also the Minister of the People and Social Development.
