NWA Urges Caution as ‘Hip Strip’ Road Works Continue

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that rehabilitation works have restarted along the Gloucester Avenue and Sunset Boulevard, also referred to as the ‘Hip Strip’, in Montego Bay, St James.

The project which originally got under way in September 2011, is being executed by local contractor, Surrey Paving and Aggregates Limited.

The project involves the removal of worn asphalt, paving of the roadway with Asphaltic Concrete and construction of drains and sidewalks.

The NWA says in order to minimise disruptions to the flow of traffic, the concrete works are being executed during the daytime, while other works will be undertaken between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
