Customers of the Jamaica Public Service, Jamaica’s electricity distributor, will get a further reduction in electricity rates. The reduction is expected to average 1% across each category of customers.
Residential customers will get the biggest decrease in their electricity rates. It will average about 4%. Business customers will see a 1% decline.
The announcement is expected to be made by the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) next week.
It is understood that the OUR was of the view that most of the company’s assumptions in its rate applications were over estimated.
Reports are that the JPS is unhappy with the determination.
