Reggae Sumfest, the greatest reggae show on Earth, has earned the reputation of bringing the biggest and best stars to its stage.
On Friday, July 17, 2015, International Night One, the event will see American rapper Common, born Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr, headlining the show.
The multifaceted artiste, actor and poet will be a welcomed addition to the show.
Common and John Legend received the Best Original Song Award for their single, Glory, at the 87th staging of the annual Oscars Academy Awards this year. The track is an emotional musical piece about the civil-rights movement, and is the theme song for the movie, Selma.
“Patrons have come to expect only the best at Reggae Sumfest. Common is the first of our announcements on this year’s line-up. I would say we are off to a great start,” Johnny Gourzong, executive director of Summerfest Productions declared.
The event is set to be held at Catherine Hall in Montego Bay from Sunday, July 12 to Saturday, July 18 in association with sponsors Digicel, Iberostar, Secrets, The Gleaner, Pepsi, Jamaica Tourist Board, Red Stripe, and Red Bull.
