Vybz Kartel’s Case Stood Down

THE ganja possession case involving dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel and Alicia Jackson, his female companion, was postponed for a short while when the matter came up in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court this morning.

The case was stood down after defense attorneys Christian Tavares-Finson and Michael Deans, were served with additional papers from the prosecution.

The artiste, who is known for his avid defense of skin bleaching, appeared to be regaining his original dark skin colour (as seen in the file photo) after a week in custody. He sat quietly inside the holding area for defendants on remand and listened intently to the cases that came before the court.

He smiled broadly when a woman, who complained of being physically abused by her male spouse, begged the court to give the man a chance.

Vybz Kartel is also charged for murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm.
